Sewing challenge for me!!

My lovely sewing-machine and me need a little challenge to get the sewing mojo flowing again. I want to make or refashion one garment for every day of august.

In the past weeks my mending and refashionn pile kept growing and so did my fabric stash. So now it is the time to reduce both of them and get myself some nice pieces for this summer (and not for the next one^^ ).

Hope to get them posted on a daily basis, or at least somewhat regularly.
Hope you all have a beautiful summer and get yourself some nice things done!

Summer Blues

Have you seen the beautiful dresses Suzannah of Adventures in Dressmaking does? It is absolutely gorgeous how she alters dresspatterns into versatile garments. She uses a McCalls pattern for strapless dresses very often. This very pattern I bought off ebay and am want to try myself with it. It is McCalls 5849 a Hillary Duff pattern.

I am using this vintage fabric I bought in a package with some other vintage ones from ebay. It is wunderful dark blue with nice flowers on it. I think it is some kind of cotton and it is a bit structured. It might be that it is a little see through, so I think I have to line it fully.
Because it is strapless I will have to make a muslin of the dress first to get the fit right. I hope to post about my muslining progress soon.
Till than: Tschüss!

Grey mouse dress

Everytime I wear grey clothes my boyfriend says I am his little grey mouse, so now I have a dress that really is just grey, but also sweet I think! It is again a T-shirt-dress from my beloved Built by Wendy: Home Stretch book. This time the sleeves are flared, I cut a V-shaped neckline and added an absolutely sweet ruffle at the bottom!

The jersey I made the dress of is really soft an drapey and makes it a perfect summery dress. Unfortunately it is rather cold and rainy in Germany at the moment, so it does not get any wearing by now, but I hope summer returns soon and than I can rock this dress!

Recycled T-Shirt dress

I was in bad need for some basic dresses for layering and paring with the scarfs I own. It had to be comfy and simple in construction, so I chose a basic knit dress from the book Built by Wendy: Home Stretch. I took two old T-Shirts of my boyfriend which he did not wear anymore because the collars were ripped.
The dress was really easy to make- it took me about two hours in total and theres is nearly nothing of the shirts left, so no waste, which is a good thing!

Can you see the little camel on the right? It was on one of the shirts and I managed to save it, so now it sits on my left hip! And there you have one picture with a bit layering! I thin it is great for this! So it is exactly what I wanted!

First Post!

So this is it. The first post! I started sewing about one year ago and around that time I read sewing related blogs. So now I want to be part of this amazing inspiring world!
